MCM DAV College is the cleanest in country

The ministry of human resource and development declared MCM DAV College, Chandigarh, as the cleanest college in India under the “residential” college category. The college has been carrying out various activities like establishing a biogas plant, plantation drives, number of toilets, solar power generation, rainwater harvesting etc.

CHANDIGARH: MCM DAV College, Sector 36, has secured the first rank in the Swachh Campus Rankings 2018 in the Higher Educational Institutes category, defeating hundreds of colleges from all over the country.
The college won the first position in the “residential”college category. The announcement was made by the ministry of human resource and development on Monday.
College principal Nisha Bhargav told TOI, “It is a matter of rare honour and prestige for our college.

In an award presentation ceremony held at New Delhi, Prakash Javadekar, minister of human resource development, and Dr Satya Pal Singh, minister of state for human resource development, facilitated the top-ranking educational institutes from India.
“Our college has been given credit for undertaking various projects for promoting environmental health and sustainable development. We hence got appreciated for a number of things that we have been doing like biogas plant, vermi-composting, composting, plantation drives, number of toilets, solar power generation, rain water harvesting, real-time air quality monitoring system, generating awareness about waste segregation and installation of blue and green dustbins,” Bhargav said.
